Despite Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s stumble on Monday night, talk show host Wendy Williams became the second eliminated contestant on this season of Dancing With the Stars.
After hovering near the bottom of the leader board, Williams and partner Tony Dovolani received only 15 points on Monday night. Their fox trot routine performed to “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" was a play on her profession, which may have been meaningful to her, but seemed to lack fluidity to judges Carrie Anne Inaba (pictured), Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman. The judges also explained Williams actually regressed from last week’s performance. After her performance, Williams broke down in tears at the prospect of going home. "I'm going to take what the judges say under advisement and if we don't get eliminated tonight, then I'm going to dance the waltz next week to the best of my ability," she said. "The purpose of my being here is to show women that we can do anything that we put our minds to."
Despite her elimination, Williams remained upbeat about her fate, thanking Dovolani for mentoring her and teaching her some rhythm. “Despite stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t do the running man! I got to do this in front of millions of people!" she said cheerfully. And at least she has something to fall back on. "With that said, I’ll do the rest of the talking tomorrow, on The Wendy Williams Show!” We’ll be watching. –EMILY EXTON
