Wendy Williams Fights With Wells Fargo & Former Manager Over Control Of Her Finances

Wendy Williams is fighting against her former manager’s attempts to become a guardian over her finances after they were frozen by Wells Fargo which claimed that the TV personality is “of unsound mind.” Williams has referred to the conflict online and accused recently-fired manager Bernie Young of using her credit card to pay for legal fees related to his reported guardianship application.

Williams, 57, uploaded a video to her Instagram account, saying, “When I began asking questions about my money, suddenly Lori Schiller has got no response regarding my money. I want my money, this is not fair.” Schiller, who was William’s financial adviser for Wells Fargo, apparently initiated the request for Williams to be placed under guardianship according to the video. In a February court filing, Wells Fargo said it suspected Williams was the “victim of undue influence of financial exploitation,” and blocked her from using her money, even for mortgage payments, until a temporary financial guardian is established.

“Lori Schiller and Wells Fargo have this guardianship petition about keeping me away from my money. This is not right, and you know this is not fair,” Williams continued. She then moved on to Young, who she fired along with her new publicist back in February as well. “I know for a fact that Bernie Young used my American Express card to hire an attorney to file a petition against me,” Williams said, and added, “Bernie Young, you’re no good.” Young also first filed for this guardianship about two weeks ago, meaning he’s attempting all of this after being fired by Williams.

Williams also said that Schiller at Wells Fargo received a medical report from a “former doctor,” and she did not specify in the video what the medical records may have been about or even the doctor’s specialization. She did say it was information “I never even got, it was sent over to Lori Schiller,” which is concerning at the least.

The talk show host decried the bank’s actions and lambasted courts for siding with them. “The New York Court system… without evidence, they took all this information and continued with what’s going on with me based on what Well’s Fargo is doing.” She likened the current situation to the case of “Kung-Fu Judge” John L. Phillips. Phillips was accused of dementia by his opponent in a district attorney election and placed under the management of a guardian that misused his finances.

Williams ended her video again imploring those working to confirm the guardianship to stop. “Lori Schiller, Bernie Young, and Wells Fargo, please let me have access to my money. This is not right, and again, this is not fair,” she said.

The Wendy Williams Show was recently announced to be ending with Sherri Shepherd helming a replacement show after Williams had to take extended leave due to health issues. Williams has since stated she wants to get back into TV hosting once this situation with her finances is sorted out, though it’s unclear what avenue that would be in yet as her old time slot is already spoken for.
