In a 30-minute long YouTube video uploaded to her channel, former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly has responded to the fact – and fiction – of the movie Bombshell. The film, starring Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie, follows several female news anchors for Fox News trying to take down Roger Ailes, the late CEO of the company, for sexual harassment. Kelly prefaced her video with a post on Twitter, writing:
Kelly said that she could not accurately judge the performance of Theron, who plays the fictional Kelly in the movie. “It’s just too weird to see somebody who looks just like you on the screen pretending to be you,” she said. However, she does have a few issues with the film concerning the facts of what happened. For example, Kelly claims that she did not run her debate questions by Fox owner Rupert Murdoch or Ailes, something which the film alleges. Kelly also states that there were no protests about her at the 2016 Republican National Convention, something which occurs in the film.

Kelly watched the film with several former female anchors – Juliet Huddy, Rudi Bahktiar and Julie Zann. All of them worked at Fox News with Ailes and had experienced his sexual misconduct firsthand. All of the women agreed that film excelled at showing what it felt like to be sexually harassed by a higher-up. “It really puts people in our shoes,” said Bahkitar.
Theron was, “incredibly moved” and stated that Kelly’s video was emotional for all who worked on the film.
