A Manhattan man jumped into the North Pool at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The 33-year-old sustained a leg injury.
A video posted to X, formerly Twitter, captured the man sliding from the upper to the lower part of the pool as those around him gasped.
Police responded to the incident after a Port Authority cop reported the man’s activity. Officers climbed down to rescue him.
Law enforcement confirmed that he was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for a leg injury.
The man was taken into custody. Criminal charges are pending.
The memorial pools, which sit in the footprints of the original Twin Towers that were destroyed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City, feature 30-foot waterfalls that commemorate those who died in the tragedy.
