Jennifer Coolidge was just as delightful at the Emmy Awards as she was in the recent role which she won for, Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus.
Coolidge won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie award at the show last night, and delighted fans with her reaction to getting “played off” by music towards the end of her acceptance speech.
Coolidge was nominated along with many of her castmates in The White Lotus. Just in her same category, Coolidge was up against Connie Britton, Sydney Sweeney, Natasha Rothwell and Alexandra Daddario who all gave phenomenal performances in the vacation dramedy anthology series.
Coolidge took the stage for a speech, and immediately began cracking jokes by saying “I took a lavender bath tonight right before the show, and it made me swell up inside my dress.”
The actress rambled and fumbled with her notes for a moment, and also said, “I didn’t think this was gonna happen, hold on!”
Coolidge listed off a couple of names to thank before the music began playing.
Panicking, she yelled, “Wait, wait wait, hold on!”
The orchestral strings suddenly switched to a louder, more energetic number, and Coolidge finally gave up on rattling off names and boogied down to the beat.
It’s unfortunate that winners are given such little time to speak in a big moment of their careers, but the show must always go on, and the Emmys have one of the hugest lists of nominations to get through of any show.
Darcy continued, “[such 'Historic tension'] has resulted in headaches for the networks’ bosses.
