WATCH: Emma Roberts Blocks Mother On Instagram Over Pregnancy News Leak

American Horror Story star Emma Roberts appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and told the talk show host about the “Instagram war” she was engaged in with her mother, Kelly Cunningham, over revealing the news that she was pregnant.

The trouble had started when Emma had purchased technophobic Cunningham an iPhone for Mother’s Day. The We’re the Millers costar told Kimmel, “I was, like, ‘Now we can FaceTime and iMessage. And like, how sweet,'” she said. “And it was just such a love fest. And it was the worst thing I ever did.”

Her mother had signed up for Google Alerts relating to Roberts that motivated her to check-in anytime a particular rumor piqued her interest. When rumors of Emma’s pregnancy by boyfriend Garrett Hedlund came to light, Cunningham took it upon herself to address fans who inquired if it were true. On her now-deleted Instagram profile, Cunningham confirmed the news to fans, leading her daughter to temporarily block her for revealing something she wanted to keep private for the time being.

Roberts recounted her outrage while being interviewed that her mother, “texted me at 2 a.m., ‘Queen, did you block me? Sad face,'” the actor said. “I was like, ‘Yes, I did block you.’ Then I unblocked her. It’s been an Instagram war with my mother that I never saw coming.”

Mother and daughter have since reconciled amicably, with Emma commenting that she looks forward to telling her son the story one day. Emma revealed her own motherhood status to the public on an Instagram post with photos of her clearly pregnant belly, with Hedlund at arm’s length. The caption read, “Me…and my two favorite guys.”
