Country singer Dolly Parton posted a video on her Instagram Saturday where she shared that she believes that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a “lesson” from God.
Parton starts the video standing by her staircase singing, “Hello it’s Dolly climbing the stairway to heaven because this virus has scared the H-E-double L out of us.”
She continues, “I’m not making light of the situation. Well, maybe I am, because it’s the light, I believe, that’s gonna dissolve the situation. I think God is in this, I really do. I think he’s trying to hold us up to the light so we can see ourselves and see each other through the eyes of love. And I hope we learn that lesson.”
Parton seems to see the bright side to the pandemic by leaning on her faith to cope through these difficult times.
“I think that when this passes, we’re gonna all be better people. I know that I have a positive attitude about it, as negative as it seems to be right now. So just keep the faith, don’t be too scared, it’s gonna be alright. God loves us.”
Nearly 150,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in the United States and over 2,500 people have died. Globally, the virus has infected over 634,000 people and killed over 29,000.
