In this new trailer for the upcoming Weird Al Yankovic biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story we see that the retelling of Al’s rise to fame will be tinged with hilarious lines, great concerts centered by Radcliffe, and run-ins with other superstars like Madonna, played by Evan Rachel Wood.

Al’s manager Dr. Demento (Rainn Wilson) cracks to the parody musician in what appears to be a hospital scene that “I think Madonna is a bad influence on you, no offense.”

Rachel Wood and Radcliffe seem to be playing parody-level portrayals of the respective stars with the energy on display, but there still is potential for heart and authenticity here well.

Along with some partying, tripping and crashing scenes, we see one of Al’s first song ideas for “My Bologna,” a parody of “My Sharona,” a couple of stages of his childhood with young actors that appear equally committed as Radcliffe and Wilson as Dr. Demonto delivering an inspiring monologue to his rock-bottom client Al while in a bubble bath.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story was directed by Eric Appel and co-written by Appel and Weird Al Yankovic himself. The film will premiere on the Roku Channel on November 4.
