Was Miley Cyrus ‘Cursing’ Off Nicki Minaj After MTV VMA Confrontation?

Miley Cyrus appeared to have a calm reaction to Nicki Minaj‘s confrontation during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night – but some are claiming that was short-lived.

“Miley stormed off stage cursing in anger after that moment,” an observer told Entertainment Weekly. The source also added that the interaction between Cyrus and Minaj on the VMA stage was not scripted.

After Minaj accepted the Best Female Video award for “Anaconda” Sunday night, she was supposed to pass the stage off to host Cyrus. Going rogue, Minaj said, “And now, back to this b—h that had a lot to say about me in the press,” adding, “Miley, what’s good?”

Though Cyrus initially looked taken aback, she recovered to say, “We’re all in this industry. We all do interviews. We know how they all manipulate s–t.”

While some say that Cyrus headed backstage in a rage, others say that’s not the case. “Miley wasn’t furious,” another source told EW. “There wasn’t anything malicious about all of this in the first place.”

As for Minaj, she had reacted to the exchange on Twitter with laughter.

The drama between Cyrus and Minaj started when the former decided to weigh in on the latter’s Twitter spat with Taylor Swift. Cyrus believed that Minaj could have been more “polite” in how she went about talking about racism in the music industry. She also criticized the rapper for complaining about not getting nominated for Video of the Year.

Despite there being some bad blood between Cyrus and Minaj, Swift and Minaj appeared to be on perfectly good terms, as they even performed together on the VMA stage.
