The Walking Dead once filmed in a small Georgia town named Grantville, where nine buildings in its quaint downtown are now up for sale on eBay for $680,000.

‘Walking Dead’ Town Up For Auction

Grantville’s former mayor Jim Sells purchased the buildings four years ago in a foreclosure deal during the recession. Now, Sells and another investor are putting the properties up for auction on eBay, with a starting bid below $700,000.

The Walking Dead filmed in Grantville for season 3 episode “Clear.” In “Clear,” Rick Grimes, played by British actor Andrew Lincoln, returned to his hometown to look for weapons in the midst of the zombie apocalypse. Previously, films such as The War with Kevin Costner and Elijah Wood and Lawless with Jessica Chastain and Shia LaBeouf have also filmed in the small town.

“Scouts from the entertainment industry love the brick, ‘old-town-square-type’ buildings,” Sells told ABC News. “Downtown Grantville has an historic appeal. A lot of the buildings were built in the 1880s, and we have a railroad runs right through the heart of town.”

“I would love to see a movie studio or a commercial developer buy it and get everything rented out,” Sells added. “It’s dirt cheap at about $30 per square foot, and we’ve done all the dirty work by renovating everything.”

Four more feature films, including 83 Days with Tom Cruise and The Ring 3, will be shooting scenes in Grantville in the near future.

As of now, almost 700 people are watching the auction, but no one has yet to claim the properties.

“We’ve gotten several curious calls, but we’re still hoping for a serious buyer,” Sells said. “This is a huge opportunity for someone to own a piece of history and revitalize a town with great potential.”
