The Walking Dead companion series will officially be titled Fear the Walking Dead and will release its first trailer Sunday night.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead and its highly anticipated companion series, announced the title news on Twitter Friday.
AMC and Sundance Channel Global president Bruce Tuchman also confirmed the title news.
“We’re thrilled to bring audiences worldwide Fear the Walking Dead within 24 hours of the U.S. premiere so that fans can experience the excitement of one of the year’s most anticipated new dramas together exclusively on AMC Global,” Tuchman said in a statement. “AMC has created some of the most compelling programming on television in recent years, and this new show will perfectly complement the popular films and exclusive original series showcased on the network.”
Fear the Walking Dead‘s trailer will debut following the 90-minute season finale of The Walking Dead Sunday night, during the Talking Dead special. The show’s first season will premiere this summer and will be comprised of six episodes. Fear the Walking Dead’s second season will air in 2016.
Though few details have been revealed about Fear the Walking Dead, it is known that it will be set in Los Angeles during the same zombie apocalypse that Rick and his group are weathering in Atlanta. The series stars Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.
