Wahlburgers, a new reality TV series about a Boston restaurant owned and operated by actor Mark Wahlberg and two of his brothers, sold out tickets to its premiere event on Wednesday.
Mark Wahlberg, along with his New Kids on the Block brother Donnie Wahlberg and chef brother Paul Wahlberg, opened up Wahlburgers burger joint in Hingham, Mass., in 2011. Now the brothers plan to bring their establishment to a bigger audience with an A&E reality series. If the premiere ticket sales are any indication, the Wahlbergs could have a hit on their hands.
The tickets from the Wahlburgers premiere event went on sale on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at noon. Within the hour, all 100 tickets had been sold. The event will take place on Jan. 22 at Hingham Harbor, the same day that the reality show premieres on A&E at 10:30 p.m. EST. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dorchester Youth Collaborative.
The Dorchester Youth Collaborative, in the Boston neighborhood in which the Wahlbergs grew up, offers assistance to low-income youth in the area.
“It seemed like the right thing to do for Wahlburgers, and for people affiliated with the restaurant stuff,” Paul Wahlberg told boston.com. “It’s more about them than it is for me. It’s showing our gratitude to them. And it's for a very good cause.”
