‘The Voice’ Season 13, Episode 2: Miley & Blake Fight For Keisha Renee, Ashland Craft & Red Marlow

The biggest race of the second round of blind auditions on The Voice is who will snag the next big country star – Miley Cyrus or veteran judge Blake Shelton.

THE VOICE BLIND AUDITIONS PART 2 RECAP

Keisha Renee, 30 of Inglewood, California, is the first to show her singing chops to the judges. Her gospel music background doesn’t take away from her passion for Texas twang. She’s convincing enough to get Cyrus, Shelton, and Jennifer Hudson to turn their chairs, but in the end, Shelton convinces her to join Team Blake.

Dylan Gerard is the next to get some love from the judges. The 28-year-old from Mcclenny, Florida, sings “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur, and gets the attention of Hudson and Adam Levine. Gerard’s rendition is a little boring, but stands out in a crowd of over-singers, and showed off his potential with his beautiful voice and tone. He ultimately chooses to join Team Adam.

Maharasyi, 27 of Los Angeles, is up next and sings “Tell Me Something Good” by Rufus and Chaka Khan. Interestingly, Maharasyi’s aunt is considered “the Whitney Houston of Indonesia.” She gets the judges dancing in their chairs, and ends up on Team Jennifer.

Red Marlow, 40 of Dickson, Tennessee, belts out country hit “Swingin'” by John Anderson and has Shelton and Cyrus begging for him to join their respective teams. Marlow throws a “sweetheart” out at Cyrus when he rejects her and joins Team Blake, so Shelton seems like the appropriate match anyhow.

Last to go is Ashland Craft, who sings “You Are My Sunshine.” The 21-year-old South Carolina native impresses Levine, Cyrus, and Shelton with her growly, raspy country voice. Her voice is the thing filling the room, rather than instruments. Cyrus says she reminds her of herself, and Craft joins Team Miley.

After two nights of blind auditions, Teams Adam and Miley have three singers each, while Teams Jennifer and Blake have four. Tune in next week to see what happens with each team.
