‘The Voice’ Season 12 Finale Part 2 Recap: Chris Blue Takes Home The Prize For Team Alicia

The Voice season 12 came to a close last night, and named Chris Blue of Team Alicia Keys as the winner.

THE VOICE SEASON FINALE RESULTS

The night was full of fun and high in energy, with performances from celebrities, the final 4 singers, and contestants who had previously been voted off. Team Adam Levine cast-off Mark Isaiah sang “Despacito” with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, and really showed up what could have been had he stayed.

Jesse Larson, who was still competing for Team Levine, came next to sing “Shining Star” by Earth, Wind & Fire with CeeLo Green. Levine always said the singers had similarities and he was not wrong. One of Team Blake Shelton‘s competitors Lauren Duski sang “Better Man” with Little Big Town on stage and sounds like Little Big Town lead singer Karen Fairchild‘s contemporary.

Hunter Plake, who left in the semi-finals, sang No Doubt classic “Don’t Speak” with his coach Gwen Stefani. The performance is stellar and gets the crowd going. Next up come Blue and Usher with a duet of “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M. Perhaps a strange choice, but made more sense when they announced they would be singing in tribute to the victims of the terrorist bombing in Manchester on Monday night.

TSoul, a cast-off from Team Blake, came out next and sang “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me” by Gladys Knight & the Pips, and he sang it with the legend Knight herself. There was a some tension on stage between the singers, but dissipates once TSoul leaves and ex-Team Alicia member Vanessa Ferguson enters. Together, she and Knight sing “If I Were Your Woman,” and it was a treat. Ferguson masterfully performed the same song during the semi-finals, yet somehow didn’t make it through.

Then we had Aliyah Moulden of Team Blake team up with Alessia Cara to sing her “Scars to Your Beautiful.” Moulden is a bit shaky and pitchy at times, but held her own, despite Cara’s singing talents being far more advanced.

The evening also saw performances from Zedd and Cara, Chris Stapleton, and season 13 coaches Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. And at the end of the show, we finally learn the results. In fourth place comes Team Adam’s Jesse Larson. In third, Team Blake’s Aliyah Moulden. In second, Team Blake’s Lauren Duski. And the winner in first, Team Alicia’s Chris Blue.
