Vine Star Jake Paul Leaves Disney During Neighborhood Scandal

Jake Paul, an internet star who rose to fame on the now-defunct six-second video platform Vine, has parted ways with Disney amidst claims that he has been a public nuisance to his neighbors in his West Hollywood neighborhood. Paul and Disney both claim the split was mutual and agreeable.

Paul, who starred in the first season and a half of Bizaardvark, a Disney Channel sitcom about two teens who make a wildly successful internet video channel, called his time on the show “incredible” and “a dream come true.”

“I hate to have to throw crazy news on you guys all at once but since we are family I know you will understand and be super supportive,” Paul began a statement he released on Twitter.

“My team, Disney Channel, and I have come to the agreement its finally time for me to move on from the Disney family and Bizaardvark … I love my cast mates and will continue to support Disney but I have outgrown the channel and feel its time to move forward in my career.”

Paul also added that he is now set to focus on his “brand,” and “working on more adult acting roles.”

He also released a video for his nearly 9 million followers on YouTube, in which he expanded briefly on the statement above.

Disney reiterated their appreciation for Paul’s work and wished him continued success.

“We’ve mutually agreed that Jake Paul will leave his role on the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline. “On behalf of the production company, the cast and crew, we thank Jake for his good work on the TV series for the past 18 months and extend our best wishes to him.”

Paul has been making headlines recently for his alleged disturbances in his Beverly Grove neighborhood. Paul, who frequently performs wild stunts for his online followers, has burned furniture in his empty pool and attracted hoards of fans to the quiet Hollywood neighborhood, among other alleged disruptions.

His neighbors are meeting next week with city leaders and law enforcement to begin the process of filing a class-action public nuisance lawsuit against the 20-year-old viral star.
