Will Ferrell made good on his threats to Conan O’Brien Monday night when he shaved off the talk show host’s famous red beard in a much-anticipated (and Tweeted-about) live television stunt dubbed “Beardpocalypse.” Though his barber skills may be lacking, as evidenced by O’Brien’s tortured cringes throughout, Ferrell delivered a hilarious and memorable performance, complete with all the swearing, screaming and sleazy innuendos fans would expect from the ostentatious comedian.
At the conclusion of his interview with O’Brien, Ferrell revealed a full barber set-up that was wheeled on stage. Though Ferrell’s series of sinister “fan correction” videos (in which he vowed to rid O’Brien of his facial hair “mistake” on his May 2 guest appearance) implied a straight razor treatment, Ferrell wisely stuck to an electric shaver. Luckily for O’Brien, a professional barber was brought in afterward to finish the job at the commercial break.
