US Coast Guard Offloads Over 29,000 Pounds of Cocaine in San Diego (Credit: US Coast Guard via Storyful)
The U.S. Coast Guard offloaded over 29,000 pounds of cocaine in San Diego on Nov. 19, the result of 11 drug-smuggling vessel interdictions.
Footage released by the U.S. Coast Guard shows crew members conducting one of the 11 interdictions, which took place throughout September and October, in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Munro offloaded the cocaine from the interdictions on Tuesday, with the cocaine estimated to be worth $335.8 million.

“The Eastern Pacific is a challenging environment – both operationally and logistically,” said Rear Admiral Joseph Buzzella, commander of Coast Guard District Eleven. “The transit zone is a vast area of ocean to cover, far from home. Despite the challenges, the success of the Munro’s crew highlights the importance of what we do on the high seas.”
