After a year of bizarre talk show appearances, club dates that ended in stage falls and audience brawls, rumors of a retirement from moviemaking and stories that it all may just be an Andy Kaufman-esque joke, the first trailer for the Joaquin Phoenix film I’m Sill Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix have surfaced online.
The film, directed by Phoenix’s brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, supposedly includes male frontal nudity and a sequence in which someone feuding with Phoenix defecates on him while he’s asleep. The movie is slated to hit theaters on September 10. "No matter what I thought coming in, I came out feeling this was a pretty amazing piece of work,” said Eamonn Bowles, president of the film’s distributor, Magnolia Pictures told Deadline.com, “jaw-dropping but dimensional.” –ANDREW BANKIN
