South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will lift his recent declaration of martial law, according to reports, after thousands of protesters filled streets near the National Assembly building in Seoul in the early hours of Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Footage captured by Instagram user @kwangho.k shows a massive crowd of people on a street near the National Assembly building.

Protesters were still outside parliament at 3:40 a.m.

The National Assembly voted to end the president’s declaration of martial law, according to Korean outlets.

The U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Korea called the situation “fluid” and said U.S. officials are “closely tracking President Yoon’s recent declaration.”
