Marvel Studios released the first trailer for The Avengers, its all-star superhero film set for a May 4, 2012 release. Bringing together characters from Marvel movies that have been dominating the box office since 2008 (with the release of Iron Man), The Avengers teams up Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. The threat? Thor's evil half-brother, Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston), is threatening the safety of the human race.
Clocking in at two minutes, the trailer shows assemblage of the team and hints at discord among each member's larger-than-life personalities, which will most likely continue to be an issue throughout future Avengers films.
