American Idol contestant Symone Black, 16, was backpedalling from a verbal slip-up after her rendition of Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay," when she literally "slipped up" and fell right off the stage.

It is Hollywood Week during Season 11 of the hit reality show, so judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson are being bombarded with auditions. But Black stood out after she finished singing. Jackson asked her, "So why did you choose that [song]?"

At the time, Black was fast on her feet. "I wanted to reach out to an older crowd — an older audience." Jackson took that opportunity to have some fun with her while Lopez laughed. "You saying that we're older?"

"No!" an embarrassed Black insisted, right before she started to inexplicably stumble around and fall straight off the stage, onto a camera man at the bottom. Someone called for a medic as the judges looked on, shocked.

"The camera man, bless him, tries to dive to catch her because he's on the floor on his knees, and he doesn't get there and knocks his camera that falls on top of him," Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told Us Weekly.

The incident and Black's condition are expected to be addressed further on tonight's episode of Idol, airing at 8 p.m. on FOX.
