Dancing with the Stars contestant Nancy Grace didn't quite live up to her name on week two of ABC's hit competition. The talk show host leads this week's DWTS blunders, as she came flying out of her dress toward the end of her quickstep with Tristan McManus.
Regardless of Grace's exposure, which host Tom Bergeron joked, "would be perfectly fine" for a European boradcast, she managed to earn respectable scores, finishing up the episode with 21 out of 30, a solid average. Though the cameras didn't air the slippage, it caught a spirited reaction from the crowd. As for Grace's routine, judge Len Goodman had some flattering words. "How refreshing! … I know what people are saying. They're going to say, 'Where's the flash? Where was the razzamatazz?' I don't care. It was a proper quickstep."
Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer, however, delivered a quickstep that failed to sizzle. The complicated number wasn't helped by the fact that Bono has faulty knees. "I could actually see you in pain," judge Carrie Ann Inaba critiqued. "But that's part of what goes with the territory on this show. Unfortunately, you're not going to get a great score tonight." Sure enough, Bono walked away with a 17 out of 30 — the lowest score of the night.
The honors of the highest score went to Ricki Lake and Derek Hough, who did pretty well last week, but rocked the stage this time around. Inaba called the jive to Outkast's "Hey Ya" the "best jive of the night," and Goodman reservedly said that it was "an improvement on last week." They earned 23 out of 30 points. Also improving were Elisabetta Canalis, the model and ex-girlfriend of George Clooney who was panned for last week's performance, and reality starlet Kristin Cavallari, who brought a bit of Hollywood glam to her quickstep with Mark Ballas. "This performance was twinkling with pleasure," judge Bruno Tonioli said.
