Still riding the wave of his London Olympics success, Usain Bolt made two small, but memorable, guest spots on the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Christina Applegate. Bolt, 26, first popped up during the show’s cold open mocking of the recent Vice Presidential Debate, when he stepped in to correct a Taran Killam-as-Paul Ryan fibbing about his running prowess. “Not only have I run a sub three-hour marathon and a sub four-minute mile," Killam as Ryan said, "just this summer, with very little training, I competed in, and won, the 100 meters at the London Olympics.” He then asked doubters to verify his credentials with his “running partner,” Bolt. “Usain, please tell him who won the 100 meters.” Bolt replied: "I did," as he took the stage. “You didn’t finish. You weren’t even there.” Later in the episode, near the end of one of SNL’s more popular sketches, “The Californians,” Bolt donned a blonde wig as a young man in search of his father, which drew raucous laughter from the audience.

Bolt’s media presence has been growing ever since the 2008 Beijing Olympics when he claimed the gold in both the 100- and 200-meter sprints, a feat he repeated at the 2012 Summer Games, making him the first man ever to win both titles in back-to-back Olympics. Bolt is sponsored by Puma and has also done ad work for Visa, Virgin Mobile and Gatorade, earning over $20 million from endorsements, according to Forbes. His SNL work probably will not parlay into a film or television career, but it certainly represents his savvy to capitalize on his global fame.
