Vin Diesel took over the Internet Tuesday, Jan. 28, when a video of him dancing to Katy Perry and Beyoncé posted to his official Facebook page went viral.

Vin Diesel Dancing Goes Viral

The odd video, which has recieved over 800,000 likes and 193,719 shares as of 12:08 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, is almost eight minutes long and features Diesel dancing by himself to Perry’s newest hit “Dark Horse” and Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love.” Diesel is far from an expert dancer, but he dances his way through all of “Dark Horse” before addressing the camera to explain his sudden desire to dance for his fans.

He then goes on to ask fans about the Grammys, declaring that he was working and was unable to watch any of the performances. Diesel then goes into dancing to Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love” – which she performed at the Grammys. Diesel even tackled the “surfboard” dance move, swaying around the room.

“Guys I’m just, I’m excited I’m happy, and calling you guys or shouting out to you guys to say thank you. Universal just called me and told me that Riddick is No. 1 on the EVD charts. There’s no way in the world Riddick would have been made without you guys, you know that… remember how arduous of a road it was of a road it was to get them to make it rated R and to do it with such a low budget… And it’s a win for all of us, and really really really thank you so much…Yeah, I’m excited. Of course, Universal is also saying they want to develop the next one,” Diesel says in between songs.

Diesel Celebrates 'Riddick' DVD Success

Riddick was released on Jan. 14, 2014 on DVD and Blu-ray and beat out Lee Daniels’ The Butler and Carrie to be the best-selling first week DVD. Riddick opened in 2013 to lackluster reviews. The film was a passion project for Diesel, who first played Riddick in a TV movie that aired in 2000, and then again in the feature film sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004. The Chronicles of Riddick was a loss for Universal Studios, who produced the film, grossing only $57 million on a $105 million budget. The studio was reluctant to make Riddick, but Diesel continued to fight for the film as producer and star. He exchanged a cameo in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) – the only Fast and Furious film not featuring Paul Walker – for producing credits on future projects and a chance to produce a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick. He even put up his house for collateral to help finance the film.

“I had initially asked the studio if I could pay them $10 million to get the rights for Riddick – to put my houses up and borrow some money. At the time, I felt like Riddick was held in a vault. We weren’t allowed to be creative with that project we had already fallen in love with,” Diesel said about the experience.

Now, Diesel says Universal is coming to him with the idea of another addition to the Riddick franchise, a twist of events that seems more than reason enough for Diesel to do a little dancing.
