VIDEO: Murder Suspect Attacked By Victim’s Uncles in New Mexico Courtroom

A hearing for a man accused of murder in Albuquerque, New Mexico, erupted into violence and chaos when a member of the victim’s family attacked the defendant in the courtroom on Jan. 31. This footage released by the Bernalillo County District Court shows the moments when Alexander Ortiz, charged with fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Alianna Farfan, was attacked by Farfan’s uncle and another man. The video shows one leaping over a courtroom gate and attacking Ortiz before the other joins the fray. Ortiz’s father can be seen walking up to the scuffle and throwing punches as well. Ortiz was arrested back in February of last year, and was also charged with the murder of 25-year-old Nicole Maldonado. Both of the men who attacked Ortiz – Carlos Lucero and Pete Ysasi – were charged with felony assault related to injuring the corrections officer who protected Ortiz.
