Michael Scott (Steve Carell) has dated many women during his seven seasons on NBC’s The Office, usually to disastrous results, but when he met HR rep Holly Flax (Amy Ryan) it was clear he'd finally found his perfect match. After news of Carell’s impending exit this year, Holly’s return to the Scranton branch set up what fans believed would be a fitting way out for Carell’s character. And it looks like Micheal and Holly will ride off into the sunset together after all.

On Thursday night, Michael finally decided it was time to pop the question. Despite his initial ideas—let’s just say fire was involved—Michael was surprisingly thoughtful, using his office family to help him give Holly the proposal of her dreams. The Scranton staffers each took turns proposing to Holly, and she turned each of them down one by one, before Michael brought her to the place where "first fell in love with [her]." Dozens of candles set the mood, but being Dunder Miflin, things naturally went awry. "Holly Flax, marrying me will you be?" Michael asked, as the office's sprinklers poured down from the ceiling. The happy couple announced their engagement to their coworkers and then stunned them—and us—with big news. “We’re moving to Colorado. I’m leaving,” Michael said.

As The Office gets closer and closer to Carell's final episode, a slew of guest stars are slated to appear, including Will Ferrell, Will Arnett and Scott's British counterpart, Ricky Gervais. Let's just hope they have a "that's what she said" joke at the ready. —EMILY EXTON
