The good news just keeps on coming for Melissa McCarthy. Two weeks ago she won an Emmy in the highly competitive category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Mike and Molly, beating out the likes of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. In May she won stellar reviews for her hilarious portrayal of a puppy-loving, bizarre relative in the Kristen Wiig comedy Bridesmaids. Now, after hosting NBC's late-night sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, which drew in an impressive amount of viewers, McCarthy is finding out that her fans believe she can do no wrong.
After doing a jazzy dance number with Wiig after her opening monologue, McCarthy brought her brand of humor to sketches in which she played an overzealous taste-tester in a Hidden Valley Ranch focus group, a classic Hollywood starlet named "Lulu" and an office employee who can't hide her sexual feelings for her co-worker.
Many celebs took to Twitter to gush about McCarthy's hilarious shtick. "Huge congrats to Melissa McCarthy for destroying on SNL last night. So glad I was there. Wiig and McCarthy together again = comedy heaven," tweeted Bridesmaids director Paul Feig. "Melissa McCarthy was pure bliss hosting SNL last night. Way to go lady!!" actress Christina Applegate wrote on her Twitter account.
Before Bridesmaids, McCarthy was best known for the television show Girlmore Girls, in which she played Lorelai Gilmore's best friend and business partner, Sookie.

She was hilarious on SNL. The above skit though, definitely made me cringe towards the end.
