Lindsay Lohan, 24, may not be the most popular person with the Los Angeles Superior Courts, but she still has some supporters on Twitter.
At her arraignment Wednesday afternoon, Lohan plead not guilty for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store. Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz set bail for the starlet at $40,000 — half for the new felony grand theft charge, and half for probation violation.
He also issued a stern warning to the former Disney star, who wore a pristine white dress and had her long hair tied in a ponytail. “You now have a pending felony case,” he explained. “If you violate the law, I will remand you and set no bail.”
Lohan appeared compliant, nodding frequently, as he continued. “You need to follow the laws just like everybody else …. You’re no different than anyone else, so please don’t push your luck.”
An hour after leaving the courtroom, Lohan was on Twitter, responding to an outraged tweet by Dr. Drew Pinsky of Celebrity Rehab, who wrote, “I am mortified how @Lindsaylohan is getting attacked when she is so fragile and just establishing her sobriety. Not at all what she needs.”
The young star seemed eager for some kind words. “@drdrew thank you for your support.. I appreciate it,” she responded. Lohan is due back in court February 25. —KIMBERLY STEELE
