VIDEO: Kate McKinnon, First Openly Gay Woman Cast On 'Saturday Night Live'
If Saturday Night Live decides to add Kate McKinnon as a member of its cast, the comedian will be the first openly gay female ever to win the honor. As a trial run, McKinnon will appear on the next live show on April 7, to be hosted by the voluptuous and gay-friendly Sofia Vergara, Deadline reported. In addition to being the first out lesbian, McKinnon would be the first openly gay performer since Terry Sweeney starred on SNL in 1985.
McKinnon has the improv and sketch comedy experience to prepare her for SNL. In addition to her three-season run on Logo’s The Big Gay Sketch Show, she has also provided voice-over work for The Venture Brothers and Robotomy, according to EW.com.
