VIDEO: Jimmy Fallon Apologizes To Michele Bachmann

Though everyone started buzzing about Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann playing a word association game during her appearance on Monday's episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, it was slightly easier to miss the intro song that the show's band played when Bachmann emerged onstage.

The house band's drummer, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, from the Grammy Award-winning band The Roots, chose to play a toned-down version of "Lyin' Ass Bitch," a little-known 1985 song from the band Fishbone, as Bachmann waved to the crowd and crossed the stage to take her seat next to host Jimmy Fallon.

"Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title," Questlove tweeted before the show. And after the event went down, no one seemed to be the wiser, including host Fallon. Once the cat was out of the bag, everyone maintained that it was, indeed, snark and only snark that inspired the playing of the song. Fallon tweeted an apology to Bachmann late on Tuesday. "I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back," he wrote. "Actually it was a really fun interview," he continued. "She helped me with my Minnesota accent. (I still sound Irish.)"

Questlove echoed Fallon's regretful sentiments. "The performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision. The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention," he said in a statement. It's worth noting that his original tweet came before the airing of the show, but after it was taped.

Bachmann addressed the incident and some of the outrage that resulted from it. "I don't have anything against Jimmy Fallon. I love him, he's a kick," she said on Wednesday morning's Fox News Channel's America's Newsroom. "It was a great opportunity to be on the show. I'd love to go back again. But I think the point is, if that had been Michelle Obama who had come out on that stage, and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her and likely they could have fired the drummer, at least suspended him. None of that happened from NBC. And this is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite, but it's also, I think, sexism as well. This wouldn't be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama; it shouldn't be tolerated if it's a conservative woman either."

Fallon, trying to keep things light, later tweeted, "Questlove is grounded."
