It had to happen sooner or later and last night was as good a night as any. After weeks of constantly finding himself in the bottom three, Michael "Big Mike" Lynche said his goodbye to the Idol stage.

"It’s been unbelievable man. I just sit here and think I wasn’t even supposed to be here… It’s all good man," Lynche said before he hugged the judges and other contestants goodbye.

Past Idol contestants Fantasia and Chris Daughtry both performed their new singles and New Jersey’s own Bon Jovi also stopped by to perform their latest tune "Superman Tonight."

Next week the top 3 Idol hopefuls return home for the "home town hero" episode where we’re all reminded that despite their mega-status now, these are nothing but regular folks from regular places. –JOE GALBO
