Music legend Glen Campbell, 75, recently revealed that he’s been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease after years of suffering from short-term memory loss.
“I still love making music,” he told People. “And I still love performing for my fans.” Campbell decided to go public with his illness because he’s planning a farewell tour that will kick off this fall, and he wants to be up-front with his audiences. “Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer,” said Campbell’s wife, Kim. “But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, ‘What’s the matter with him? Is he drunk?'”
Campbell, who topped charts in 1975 with his iconic “Rhinestone Cowboy,” will release a new album, Ghost on the Canvas, in addition to his tour. The singer is grateful for his fans. “I’d like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin,” he said.
