Newly released footage shows government officials shepherding the first group of migrants deported by the Trump administration into a military plane at the US-Mexico border. The action on Jan. 23, came after the Defense Department said it would send 1,500 troops and additional assets to the southern border “to augment troops already conducting enforcement operations in that region.” This footage shows agents from the Defense Department and Homeland Security Department guiding 80 migrant passengers onto a Guatemala-bound military aircraft at Texas’s Fort Bliss on Thursday. The passengers can be seen wearing handcuffs and legcuffs. The Guatemalan migrants had recently crossed the US border and were in Border Patrol custody.
