VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Manuel Garcia-Rulfo Says His ‘Mom Wasn’t Proud’ Of His Swearing On ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Set

Actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo shared some of his bad habits on the set of Lincoln Lawyer in his new uInterview.

Lincoln Lawyer is a three-season dramedy that follows lawyer Mickey Haller (played by Garcia-Rulfo) as he takes on a variety of cases across Los Angeles, while running the business from his car.

As Garcia-Rulfo’s on-screen character thrives on chaos, the actor spoke on what draws him to the role. “Me personally, I’m not at all like that. [Haller] thrives on chaos,” he said. “His relationships have to be chaotic. He goes where the trouble is, that’s where. He thrives and it’s so fun to play that. I love him for that. And I also think that people you know, they bond with the series, they like the series because of that, its fun to watch somebody struggle to struggle with things and see him fall and rise again with all these obstacles…that’s why people connect with it.”

Garcia-Rulfo thought back on the production experience behind the scenes and off-set and shared, “The actors and most of the crew was always the same, and the showrunners, we became like a family and it was so fun, I wish everybody could see behind how fun it is to shoot the show,” he said.

He also added a specific favorite moment, “In this season we have a very epic moment of action when [a] car crashes and it was really really cool to see and to shoot. So that was exciting.”

Garcia-Rulfo revealed how he mastered the legal jargon on the show. “Honestly, I pray to the gods of the arts because I don’t know man,” he said. “I guess it’s becoming like a memory, like a muscle memory thing…the hard part of it, which is the backstory of the character and all that you know, I did it in the first season, so that comes already naturally or easier…now I just have to concentrate on the words, which is insane because it’s a lot of monologues, huge monologues with legal terms that are so hard to remember and to say…So right now I think it’s just about learning the words – and making them believable of course.
