VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Hunter King & Tyler Hynes Reveal How They Crafted Perfect Chemistry On Screen

In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, Hunter King and Tyler Hynes reflected on their chemistry in their new Hallmark movie, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story

Holiday Touchdown follows NFL Chiefs obsessive Alana as she vies for the Fan of the Year Award to present her family. As Christmas grows closer, Alana ends up falling in love with a handsome man working in the Chiefs front office.

Asked how the pair was able to manufacture their chemistry on-screen, the two actors traded praise for one another.

Hynes jumped to answer first, “Hunter is an incredibly talented actor,” and King interjected, “I was going to say the same thing about you—it’s just easy with Tyler…I think anybody who has worked with you would say the same thing.”

To their credit, the couple’s chemistry was off the charts as they argued over who was the better actor, even in the interview.

Hynes said, “I think the charm of this movie, the charm of the cast, the city that we shot it in, it made the whole experience magic – but it doesn’t exist without the lead character, [King’s] character, carrying the entire movie – and there is nobody better that could’ve carried this movie with such warmth and such vulnerability while having so much fun.”

The two high-fived over their successful mutual compliments, and all tension left the room.

In a film about the Chiefs fandom, Hynes and King reminisced about the real-life fans they got to work with on set.

“They were troopers; they came out on some of the hottest days in Kansas City,” King recalled. “So hot, so humid, and everyone had to be in full winter gear…everything, and they were such troopers. They always seemed so happy, and every time we interacted with them they were so lovely and so kind and so generous with their time and were just excited to be there to celebrate the Chiefs with us.”

Hynes noted that it was unlike any project he will ever do again: “Shooting in the city with the actual authentic people who do love these movies and love this team, it made for everything to just feel like something really unique. And special. And rare.”

Asked what they hoped the audience would take away from the film, King explained, “Hallmark – it just does such an amazing job of putting family and tradition and love and relationships at the forefront of their movies and just giving you everything in a movie that provides meaning to people’s lives. And I think that they do an especially really great job at the holidays and making sure people get that feeling of everyone being one at the holidays. And to be a part of that – and feel that we were making that, and hopefully bringing that into people’s homes – was such a great feeling; it just makes you feel very warm and cozy inside.”

Hynes reflected, “It seems like there’s an inclusiveness to this movie and this experience that is very needed these days. There’s a lot of folks in different sorts of areas of focus and feeling, and the brand in general and specifically the story we’re telling…being brought into such a warm environment and the sort of feeling of hope and faith…I think is going to resonate with a lot of people.”

Holiday Touchdown will air on Nov. 30 on Hallmark Channel at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
