In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz detailed his thoughts on A.I. in his new film Renner. A sci-fi thriller, Renner follows a computer genius (Muniz) who designs an A.I. to help him battle his social anxiety and find love. However, when he accidentally programs his mother into the intelligence, his creation slowly grows more manipulative and malicious. “You know it’s so funny, I can’t relate to the character at all. But I had this weird thing while I was filming the movie, that I’d leave the set and I’d go back to where I was staying,” he told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “I had a hard time differentiating the emotions I had in the movie and in real life. Which is really weird – if you’ve seen the movie, it gets pretty dark, right? I’ve never dove into a character as much as I did this one. And I don’t know, it was a very interesting experience, I loved it and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. So hopefully people are shocked by the movie, but also shocked by my performance and seeing in me in such a different type of role.” Renner is now in theaters.
