An EF-1 tornado struck Scotts Valley, California, on Saturday, Dec. 14, injuring five people, overturning vehicles, and downing trees and power poles, according to the National Weather Service.
In this video, the tornado is seen ripping through a shopping center parking lot, tearing down power lines and shredding tree branches.

Speaking to local media, Scotts Valley police captain Jayson Rutherford said five people were injured, including a Cal Fire battalion chief whose vehicle flipped over while he was inside it. The battalion chief and two others were transported to local hospitals.
