Conservative activist and commentator Candace Owens posted a video to Twitter on Tuesday to share her anger over the police stopping her and her husband at a Whole Foods in Washington, D.C. for not wearing a mask.
“We must’ve been in the store for like, four minutes picking some stuff, and the police officer chases me down, and she says that she’s getting complaints that I don’t have a mask on,” Owens said.
“I [told the officer that] don’t have a mask. I haven’t bought one.”
According to Owens, the officers also seemed to “disagree with [the policy] personally,” yet had to “do their job.”
She claimed that she was unaware of Mayor Muriel Bowser‘s mandate on April 8, requiring all the food store customers to “wear a mask or mouth covering.”
Owens further resented the current coronavirus measures imposed in Washington, D.C., claiming there is “no empirical evidence to support the wearing of masks.”
She also pointed out how there has been a decrease in deaths in D.C., and asserted that there is no need to enact this policy.
“I’m not a part of the corona crazies,” she said. “I’m not a part of the tinfoil hat, bunkering in my basement; I’m just living my life.”
