American Airlines flight 292 from New York to New Delhi was diverted to Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Fiumicino, Italy, on Feb. 23. Footage filmed from inside the cockpit of one of the two Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoons shows the Boeing 787 being escorted on Sunday after the plane turned around over the Caspian Sea and headed towards Rome. In a statement, American Airlines said flight 292 was diverted “due to a possible security concern. The possible issue was determined to be non-credible, but per DEL Airport protocol, an inspection was required before landing at DEL. The airline added that the flight landed safely, was inspected and subsequently cleared to re-depart. (Credit: Italian Air Force via Storyful)
