Firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze that broke out in Brooklyn, New York’s Prospect Park on Friday evening, Nov. 8.

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) said it was responding to a two-alarm brush fire in the park.

An FDNY spokesperson said the blaze broke out near the Nethermead meadow. No injuries have been reported yet.

Footage captured by Tim Novikoff shows firefighters on the scene.

Dozens of brushfires have broken out in the New York City area, with one in Passaic, New Jersey, blowing smoke across the region.

“Never thought we’d be praying for rain but we really need rain with all of these leaves and dry ground and trees,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said.
