Joke gone wrong? That's the explanation Ashton Kutcher gave for a recent interview with Men's Fitness, in which he warned of a rapidly approaching apocalypse.
In the interview, for the magazine's February issue, Kutcher said, "And people are going to go, 'That land's not yours, prove that it's yours,' and the only thing you have to prove it's yours is on an electric file. Then it's like, 'What's the value of currency, and whose food is whose?' People's alarm systems at their homes will no longer work. Neither will our heating, our garbage disposals, hot-water heaters that run on gas but depend on electricity – what happens when all our modern conveniences fail? I'm going to be ready to take myself and my family to a safe place where they don't have to worry."
But the No Strings Attached star clarified his comments to Jimmy Fallon. "Here's the thing: you do these interviews for like a Men's Fitness or something, and they're always asking you like, why do you work out, what's your motivation to stay in shape? And you really don't want to say I want to look good, I want to be healthy, it doesn't really sound fun. So I kind of got going on this roll of the apocalypse and I thought she was getting the joke, and I read the article and she really didn't get the joke."
Kutcher may not be ready for the end of the world yet: his romantic comedy, also starring Natalie Portman, topped the box officein its opening weekend. —ISHITA SINGH
