A fast-moving brush fire burning in California’s Ventura County topped 20,000 acres as of Nov. 8, officials said.
The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) reported the fire to be an estimated 20,596 acres in size with seven percent containment as of Friday morning.
More than 2,400 personnel were on the scene fighting the fire, the VCFD said.
According to officials, the fire was burning in “steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts,” but said fire activity had waned due to a decrease in winds “over the area.”
“Our thoughts are with all members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident,” the VCFD said.
This footage was taken from inside a Ventura County Air Unit Firehawks helicopter on Thursday as the aircraft performed a water drop over the Mountain fire.
