A fast-moving brush fire burning in California’s Ventura County had burned through more than 20,000 acres of land as of Nov. 10, officials said.

The fire had grown to an estimated 20,630 acres in size and was 31 percent contained as of Sunday evening, Cal Fire reported.

More than 2,400 personnel were on the scene fighting the fire, the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) said.

According to officials, the fire was burning in “steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts,” but said fire activity had waned due to a decrease in winds “over the area.”
