Veterans Groups Protest Kanye West’s Planned Comeback Concert In Italy
Troubled rapper Kanye West is reportedly planning a comeback concert in Italy, where he has been residing for the past few months with his new wife Bianca Censori.
Reports of stage construction at the RCF arena in Reggio-Emilia, which can hold up to 103,000 people, are said to be linked to a performance. West is due to take the stage on October 20, which would coincide with the date of the release of his eleventh album.
Other reports in the Italian press say that the concert has been delayed. The famously mercurial rapper is known to change his plans constantly.
Local veteran groups are not happy with the concert going forward.
Organizations that represent partisans who fought against Italy’s right-wing government in World War II have spoken out against the concert. They say that West’s political beliefs are unacceptable, in reference to his antisemitic tirades last year.
West has since apologized for his behavior after posting a now-deleted Instagram photo praising Jonah Hill’s performance in 21 Jump Street.
“No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people,” he wrote.
Prior to the reported comeback concert news, West made a two-song cameo at a Travis Scott concert in Rome in August.
West and Censori have been making headlines in Italy for their odd clothing and behavior.
