Actor Verne Troyer died at the age of 49 on April 21, the cause of his death has not be determined but is believed to be a “possible suicide.”
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office revealed that there were very high amounts of alcohol at the time of Troyer’s death. “He was admitted with a very high level of alcohol in his system,” says coroner spokesperson Ed Winter, who noted that his death was “reported as a possible suicide.”

A full and detailed toxicology test has been performed, but the results could take four to six weeks to come. “His case is deferred at this time pending additional tests.”
Troyer’s death could very well be a suicide as he was recently hospitalized after his friends called first responders because he was drunk and suicidal earlier this month. He also checked himself into rehabilitation for his alcoholism last year.
A statement following his death was released stating that “recent time of adversity.” “Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles. Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much.” The statement also discusses how important it is to reach out to someone for help, as depression and suicide should not be taken lightly. “Depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help,” it read.

Troyer was best known for his role as Mini-Me, the side kick of Dr. Evil, in the Austin Powers series. He is credited for a total of 58 films and shows, including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Sabrina The Teenage Witch. He also recently filmed a new comedy a new comedy movie Hipsters, Gangsters, Aliens & Geeks.
