Vanilla Ice, the late 80s early 90s rapper, was arrested Wednesday and booked on burglary and grand theft charges.
Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, allegedly stole numerous items from a foreclosed home next to a house he was renovating in a Palm Beach County neighborhood for his DIY Network show The Vanilla Ice Project. Among the items he is accused of taking are bicycles, furniture and a pool heater.
The “Ice Ice Baby” singer surrendered to cops Wednesday and allowed detectives to scour his properties to determine what items he may have lifted from the foreclosed home. “He’s being very cooperative,” Palm Beach County, Lantana, Fla., police Chief Sean Scheller told the New York Daily News, though adding, “He’s got a different recollection of where the property was stored.”
Vanilla Ice was booked on felony charges of burglary of a residence and grand theft. He was released from the Palm Beach County jail Wednesday after posting $6,000 bond.
“DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter,” network spokeswoman Lynne Davis told USA Today in a statement.
