Vanessa Hudgens & Austin Butler Get Close At 'The Dead Don't Die' New York Premiere
Actress Vanessa Hudgens has taken to social media to apologize for her remarks about the coronavirus outbreak which many have viewed as insensitive. On March 16, Hudgens, known for her work in the High School Musical movies, took to Instagram live to air her grievances about how many of the actions taken to prevent the spread of the virus, including self isolation and social distancing, may need to continue into the summer.

“‘Til July sounds like a bunch of bulls—,” said Hudgens in an Instagram Live video. “I’m sorry, but like, it’s a virus, I get it. I respect it. But at the same time, like, even if everybody gets it, like, yeah, people are gonna die,” the actress said. The 31-year-old Hudgens recognized that the death of thousands of people would not be good, but said that the toll of the virus would be, “like, inevitable?” “I don’t know. Maybe I shouldn’t be doing this right now,” concluded the actress with a chuckle.
Many on social media were very upset with Hudgens over her apparent blasé attitude to what the World Health Organization has classified as a pandemic.
After the backlash on social media, Hudgens took to her Twitter page to offer an apology
“I’m so sorry for the way I have offended anyone and everyone who has seen the clip from my Instagram live yesterday,” the actress wrote. “I realize my words were insensitive and not at all appropriate for the situation our country and the world are in right now. ” Hudgens also said that she hoped that everyone can stay healthy during the outbreak.
