Republican Louisiana Congressman Vance McAllister, a married father of five, was captured on CCTV making out with one of his staffers.

In the footage, McAllister, 40, pulls Melissa Anne HIxon Peacock in for a kiss as they’re about to leave the offices. Peacock, who is also married, served as his district scheduler, reported the Oachita Citizen.

“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve,” McAllister said in a statement. “Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed. From day one, I’ve always tried to be an honest man. I ran for Congress to make a difference and not to just be another politician.”

“I don’t want to make a political statement on this. I would just simply like to say that I’m very sorry for what I’ve done,” he added. “While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this.”

McAllister's Family Values

McCallister ran on a campaign based on Christian and family values leading up to November’s special election to replace Rep. Rodney Alexander in the congressional seat. He’s only months into his first term in the house and has no immediate plans to resign from office over his cheating scandal.

While McCallister intends to keep his job, Peacock has already been dropped from his staff, reported The News Star. She and her husband had separately contributed $5,200 to the politicians campaign and are said to have been close with him personally. McCallister reportedly attended high school with Peacock’s husband.

Prior to making headlines for his tryst with a married staffer, McAllister was best-known nationwide for bringing Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson along to the State of the Union Address in January.
