Universal Studios Hollywood has announced that visitors who are 12 years or older will be required to show either proof of vaccination or a recently negative COVID-19 test in order to enter. It also will require visitors to wear masks at all times in the theme park, indoors and outdoors. The new rule goes into effect on October 7 as an effort to comply with an order issued by the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.

The theme park reopened in April 2021 after over a year of being closed due to COVID-19. Initially, only California residents were allowed to visit with strict caps on capacity. However, more recently, in preparation for Halloween and the holiday season, the park has opened up to more guests but with stricter requirements in masking and vaccinations.

Disneyland, in Orange County, has not yet implemented requirements on the same level or scale as Universal Studios.
