UNESCO Celebrates World Teachers’ Day

UNESCO, the United Nations Organiztion for Education, Science and Culture, celebrates the 16th annual World Teachers’ Day today, Oct. 5.

UNESCO WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

Not everyone in the world has the opportunity to attend school, but for those of us that do, we often take it for granted. Teachers are an important part of our lives, and too often do we forget how valuable their jobs are in making our lives better.

Today we have the chance to thank them for their hard work and patience, and to remember to be grateful for our ability to receive an education when so many people in the world cannot.

UNESCO has been fighting to create better opportunities for teachers, as well as trying to bring education to countries that may not have the advantages we have. According to UNESCO, 59 million children are not receiving an education. In order to bring education to countries worldwide by 2020, the UN estimates that we will have to recruit 10.9 million new teachers.

Happy World Teacher’s Day to all the teachers out there. Here are just two of the teachers that have had a wonderful impact on Zak.
